English Version amphaze
Sergej und Ploehr bilden seit Juli 2006 die Band
"amphaze". Durch ihre langjährigen Erfahrungen an verschiedenen Instrumenten sind
sie ein eingespieltes Team.
Ihre teilweise sehr unterschiedlichen Einflüsse lassen eine nicht unbedingt typische
Art von Reggae und Dub entstehen. Die deutschen Lyrics lassen viel Platz für Inspiration
und Interpretation und verschmelzen mit der Musik ohne aufdringlich zu wirken.
Als Duo spielen sie live Instrumente wie Gitarre, Synthesizer und Melodica und basteln
an Drumloops und Samples. Ihre Musik ist frisch, modern und passt absolut in den heutigen
Zeitgeist.

In July 2006, Sergej and Ploehr decided to start
something new after many bands, playing different instruments and learning much about
music and its business.
With this experience they are writing new songs and performing
them as a duo, and it seems to work better than ever.
Their songs utilize elements from Reggae, Dancehall and Drum n Bass, while incorporating
heavy effects and German lyrics, making them very original and appealing to a wide audience.

Die Band Contra Coup hat sich im November 2006 formiert, nachdem sie als Backing
Band „The Lonestars Rockers“ eine Tour durch den Süden der Vereinigten Staaten
mit der Reggae Legende Clinton Fearon (Studio One, The Gladiators, Black Ark
Studio) erfolgreich beendet haben.
Inspiriert von Fearons Originalität haben
diese Musiker, bekannt aus den Bands wie The Stingers, Five Ton Chicken, Burning
Spears Band und vielen anderen, sich drei Monate später im Studio wiedergetroffen,
um ihre erste LP „On Time“ aufzunehmen. Diese CD wurde produziert von Clinton
Fearon, der auch alle Gitarrenparts einspielte, und im Mai 2007 unter dem Label
Mossburg Music veröfentlicht.
Auf der Winter-Tour 2007 wird Contra Coup unterstützt
von der Bläser-Section der Band „Babylove and the Van Dangos“ aus Dänemark und
an der Gitarrre und Keyboard von dem Projekt „amphaze“ aus Deutschland. Diese
internationale Gruppe von Musikern wird von Dänemark über Deutschland und Tschechien
bis Südfrankreich und Italien reisen um das neue Album „On Time“ zu präsentieren.

Deutsche Version CONTRA COUP – roots reggae (US)
The foundation of this eight-piece group is heavy drum and bass rhythms topped
with sweet melodies and harmonies, all fusing with the same bold originality
that defined the 1977 punk scene. While embracing roots reggae music, this band
is by no means shy about expressing itself and its own experiences through the
music.
Contra Coup formed as a band in November 2006 after several members of a
temporary backing band, The Lonestar Rockers, completed a tour of the Southern
United States with reggae legend Clinton Fearon (Studio One, The Gladiators,
Black Ark Studio). Inspired by Fearon’s authentic and original style, these musicians –
former members of The Stingers ATX, Five Ton Chicken, Burning Spear’s Burning Band,
DJ Kane of the Kumbia Kings, and many others – gathered in a recording studio
three months later to record On Time, their first full-length album, which was
produced by Fearon.
Four of the sixteen tracks are dub versions by Victor Rice,
who has produced and mixed records for acts such as The Slackers, The Toasters,
Rocker-T, and many more. This collection of songs covers many types of reggae
music, while adding a specifically original touch.
While being a very cohesive
unit in the studio, Contra Coup has evolved into a very dynamic live act as well.
Catch them in October/November in the southern U.S. and across the pond in December
for the European Christmas tour.
